Frequently Asked Questions
Will you always be able to find the solution for me?
We don’t necessarily see that as our function. Our aim is to help you to find the solution for yourself.
Is it confidential?
Absolutely 100% confidential. All files are kept securely and we don’t even see each other’s files!
What is Stress?
Interestingly, there is no standard definition. Our own definition of stress is “A perception that you have more on your plate than you can cope with.”
What are the symptoms of Stress?
There are, in fact, no standard symptoms. Stress can produce many different symptoms and can also reduce the body’s ability to resist disease, so a person suffering from stress is more likely to catch anything that is doing the rounds at the time!
Why do some people cope better than others?
There are all sorts of reasons. Some people have stronger tolerance than others, or have better support, or have good coping mechanisms to help them through difficult times.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation and concentration, with a heightened awareness induced by suggestion.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes, as long as they want to be hypnotised. Only a small percentage can reach the deepest state of hypnosis (the state used in entertainment hypnosis), but anyone can reach the state used in hypnotherapy.
Will I be aware of what is happening during hypnosis?
You will be fully aware (and fully in control) at all times.
Are the hypnotherapy sessions recorded?
Yes - so that you have them for use at home to reinforce the work we have done. We can record on cassettes, or in mp3 or WAV (CD) format, depending on your preference.
How many visits will I need?
This depends on the problem and your own requirements. Simple things like smoking and phobias usually require no more than 3 sessions, whereas more complex problems may need more. The initial consultation will give us a good idea of the requirements and you will be able to agree the way forward.
Will I need to keep coming to see you?
This depends on the nature of the problem. The vast majority of clients finish the agreed programme and then we never see them again. Some clients continue on, say, a monthly basis until they feel comfortable. Some clients stay with us for quite a while. Some clients come back at a later date to deal with other problems. This is entirely down to the client.
